BIG NEWS: Adelaide will soon be home to the Heart of Glass!

In what will be one of the biggest changes to its skyline Adelaide has ever seen, the Heart of Glass was tonight passed by the ACC Development Panel.

Bloggers on the development watch website Sensational Adelaide, including some who were at the meeting, tonight expressed their excitement at the news.

One forum member said, “Makes you proud to be South Aussie. Makes you warm inside!! A real landmark in more ways than one. Hoping it opens the door for more of the same now a precedent has occurred.”

I believe this building will signal a new era for Adelaide.

Its modern design, which throws out the stereotypical office building box, will help to add to Adelaide’s individual visual style and give our city and fresh approach into the future.

Perhaps I’ll move the FNUKY offices to the building!  I’ll suss out the crew tomorrow.

I would like to congratulate the architects Tectvs (who happened to design my first apartment), the Adelaide City Council, as well as all the forum regulars at Sensational Adelaide for their role in taking Adelaide in the future.

UPDATE:  By the way, if you haven’t seen what the development is going to look like, check out some photos here.

As a British visitor to Australia, I have visited most of Australia’s large cities. I noticed each city had a specially iconic building; except Adelaide and Perth. Melbourne has the Rialto Towers and the Eureka Tower, Sydney the Syney Tower,Brisbane the Aurora and Canberra Parliament House.
Adelaide appears to be littered with medium-sized buildings, but there are no real “wow” buildings.
I looked this up, finding that Adelaide had no buildings in the top 25 tallest, which is outrageous considering that Adelaide’s population is similar to Perth and Brisbane. This will be good to revitalize the city of Adelaide

This is so exciting! I honestly can’t believe the ACC approved this...I’m completely stunned! Adelaide might finally be heading in the right direction.

The NIMBY’s must be furious. HA!

I cannot believe this building has been approved - good on the ACC for making the right decision for once! This building is going to be a breath of fresh air for Adelaide, exactly what we need. I’m sure it will look incredible when finished, can’t wait!
